About the Book: Every Day with God is the latest 365-day devotional (one for boys and another for girls) from VeggieTales. The updated content and art offer the perfect opportunity for parent and child to share time together each day. Each entry includes a Bible verse, short devotion, thought of the day, and prayer. The content will help children learn more about God and develop a daily practice to keep Him close in their lives. The book is perfect for bedtime reading, family devotion time, or as a fresh way to start each day!

I am really excited knowing that my daughter has a devotional that she can read. This is the first devotional that she has ever read. The recommended age is 4-7, but my daughter is nine and I think that this devotional is perfect for her. There are two different versions of the devotional, one for boys and one for girls.

The cover looks great, it has a two characters (the same two, but in a different pose) on the front and the back. Veggie Tales has been around for over twenty years, so they have a trademark appearance that clearly distinguishes them from other products. I think that a hardback cover would have been better than the softcover. Especially since the book has been designed for ages 4-7.

In the front of the book there is a message to parents. I quote, “as a parent, you know the importance of teaching your children the big ideas that are found in God’s Holy Word. this book of devotions can help you do that.” There are 365 devotions, one for each day of the year. The message includes the suggestion to read a devotional each day to your daughter. This makes sense because the book has been written for 4-7 year olds. Since my daughter is nine she can read the devotional to herself. So I wouldn’t worry to much about the recommended age, I believe that girls much older than seven would find this devotional to be a valuable resource.

Each devotional includes a verse, a paragraph explaining the verse, and what the verse means for the reader. But thats not all, there is also a thought for the day, and a prayer for each day. I really appreciate the prayer, it helps as a guide or teacher to young girls as they learn to pray. As parents we hold the responsibility of teaching our children to pray, but diversity is great. We do not want our children to be mechanical robots.

My daughter was very excited to receive this devotional. She likes it very much and is excited about reading it every day. When I asked her what she liked about it she said, “how it tells you stuff about God, what you should be doing, and other stories in the Bible.” The lessons include topics such as Encouraging Others, Practicing Truth, Learn From Your Mistakes, What a Friend (Jesus), and Keep on Forgiving.
