He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.                    Matthew 16:15-17

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.                                        I Corinthians 12.3

Truly, we can say with Paul, we are saved by grace. We have no reason to boast. Our spiritual understanding is supernatural. Guided by and taught by the Holy Spirit we can recognize Jesus as Lord. Knowledge of Christ is not the same as the supernatural understanding that we experience when our perceptions are clear. In submission to, and in cooperation with God’s Word and the Holy Spirit our perceptions become clear. When we hear Jesus’ name taken in vain or cursed we can be certain that such behavior is not  influenced by the Holy Spirit. Whenever Jesus is glorified, when He is called Lord, that is the work of the Holy Spirit. Praise Him for His work in you!

Prayer: Thank you for teaching us. Thank you for opening our eyes to truth of who Jesus is. Thank you for grace and mercy. Please continue to illuminate truth; we long to know you better.
