And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people. Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother. Luke 7:11-15
Jesus sympathized with the poor widow who lost her only son. After losing her husband and son she had no one to care for her. I would have liked to seen the widow’s face when Jesus told her, weep not. She probably thought he was crazy. Not for long. I love this passage. I can only imagine how the widow felt; she probably thought she had lost everything. Then Jesus comes. His compassion and concern for her led Him to restore life to her son. And he delivered him to his mother. What fun! The mothers tears, fears, and hopelessness gone. I imagine that the widow either gave Jesus a bear hug or hung on his neck. Jesus must have experienced incredible joy in this moment.
Do you realize that He experienced joy the moment you and I were reconciled to the Father and restored to life?
Wow, just wow! I think you are right, she probably gave Jesus a bear hug! I think I would have fallen to my knees with just a sense of relief (from broken heart), joy (knowing Jesus loved me that much) and peace. Great scripture this morning! I needed that more than you know. I don’t know how you do it, oh wait, yes I do! It’s God! You always post what I need to hear. Thank you for taking time to do this.

Good word! Amazingly we have the same power imparted to us as believers to work in others lives all around us each day. Thanks for this good reminder of the compassion AND power of the Lord Jesus.
